New York: Atheneum, 1968. First Edition. Hard Cover. Signed by James Watson
A brilliant book which told the story of the race to solve the secret of the gene, the work for which Francis Crick, James Watson and Maurice Wilkins were awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1962. The Double Helix has been tarnished in the decades since -- Watson's failure to accord credit to Rosalind Franklin whose work was critical to understanding the structure of DNA, and because of Watson's more recent unfounded proclamation that the intelligence of black people is less than "ours".
Still, the 1968 account of the discovery is one of the most important books in the field. Very Good binding / Very Good dust jacket.
